Get Backend Developers
Backend engineers who build reliable APIs, data pipelines, and service infrastructure. Whether your stack is Node.js, Python, Go, Java, or .NET, LATAM has experienced engineers who know these stacks in production.
Senior backend developers in LATAM cost $65-95k vs $150-190k in the US. Backend expertise, especially across systems design and database optimization, is well represented in LATAM.
LATAM's fintech, logistics, and SaaS sectors have produced backend engineers who understand throughput, latency, and failure modes at real scale.
Algorithms, data structures, operating systems, and networking are core subjects in LATAM CS programs. Backend engineers here have the fundamentals, not just framework familiarity.
4-8 hours of daily overlap with US teams. Systems design discussions and incident response benefit from synchronous time.
Many LATAM backend engineers are comfortable in multiple languages. Node.js and Python are common primary stacks; Go and Java are well-represented secondary options.
Every candidate completes all five stages before you see their profile. You can also run your own technical round after our screening.
A timed test measuring analytical thinking, pattern recognition, and problem-solving clarity, independent of specific programming language knowledge.
A structured interview assessing communication style, conflict resolution, ownership mindset, and English proficiency in a professional context.
A 90-minute session covering systems design and API architecture. Candidates work through a real backend problem: designing a rate-limited API with background job processing, proper error handling, and database query optimization. We assess their understanding of distributed systems tradeoffs, their database indexing and query optimization skills, and how they think about failure modes. The session is language-aware, covering specifics of their primary language's concurrency and error handling model.
Verification of work history, education, and identity with written consent, aligned with applicable privacy rules including LGPD where relevant.
We speak with at least two professional references who worked with the candidate in an engineering context, not personal contacts.
After our screening, you can optionally run your own technical round before making an offer.

Backend work is mostly invisible when it's done well. Our engineers design for that: APIs that return consistent errors, queries that don't blow up under load, and services that recover gracefully from failures.
GitHub Copilot for generating API routes, database migrations, and integration test boilerplate. They spend time on architecture and optimization decisions.
AI-assisted query analysis: using AI tools to review SQL queries for missing indexes, unnecessary joins, and N+1 patterns.
They add observability from day one: structured logging, distributed tracing, and health endpoints are not optional.
Clear API documentation as part of delivery. They don't ship an API endpoint without an OpenAPI spec or at minimum a README section.
They design for failure explicitly: retry logic, circuit breakers, and graceful degradation are standard parts of their service designs.
