Highest developer density in LATAM
Uruguay has more software developers per capita than any other Latin American country. Montevideo concentrates most of this talent, creating an unusually deep pool for a city of 1.3 million people.
ORT and UDELAR
ORT Uruguay is known for producing practice-oriented engineers with strong programming skills. UDELAR's Facultad de Ingeniería is research-rigorous. The combination gives Montevideo breadth across junior and senior profiles.
High English proficiency
Uruguay ranks high on the EF English Proficiency Index for Latin America. Montevideo's tech community has a long history of working with US and European clients, and English communication is strong.
Mature remote-work culture
Uruguay has been sending engineers to work for international companies for over 20 years. The professional culture is well-adapted to distributed teams: direct communication, reliable async, and minimal hand-holding.
