Why Medellín became Silicon Medellín
Tech transformation story
Medellín's reinvention is real. The city went from a difficult past to hosting Ruta N, one of Latin America's most recognized innovation districts. The investment in tech infrastructure has attracted serious companies and serious engineers.
EAFIT and Universidad de Antioquia
EAFIT is considered one of Colombia's best engineering schools, with a strong focus on applied CS and software engineering. It has become a primary talent feeder for Medellín's tech companies.
Startup-driven engineer mindset
Medellín's engineers often come from startups, which shapes how they work: ownership-focused, product-aware, comfortable with ambiguity. Good fit for US product teams.
